Intradco Global arranges charter for Epsom Derby winner
Intradco Global’s reputation for the safe, secure transportation of horses means it is the first choice transport provider for many leading racehorse owners and trainers around the world.
The team recently had the honour of flying Harzand on his way to winning the 2016 Epsom Derby. The owners of the Irish Thoroughbred racehorse required him to be flown to the event, having decided against gambling on a lengthy journey by road.
Intradco Global arranged for Harzand to be flown from Dublin to Biggin Hill on the morning of the race using a chartered Antonov AN-74 aircraft.
In addition to supplying specialised stalls and a custom designed loading ramp for the aircraft, a team of four grooms accompanied the horse throughout the flight to ensure his well-being.
Arriving at the course in top condition, Harzand raced to glory in the Derby, holding off a late challenge from the favourite US Army Ranger. With a purse of £1,545,000, the 2016 Derby was the richest race ever run in the UK, according to the organisers.
Sara Havers who managed the flight said:
“Intradco Global is proud to be arranging the operation of the Antonov AN-74 once again for these unique racehorse “runner” flights. Flying horses of this calibre means every detail of the operation must be managed with the utmost precision and professionalism to ensure we meet our clients every need at all times.”
